Road to Recovery.....

'Bill Painting Hyperion Bridge'.......oil on canvas panel.......9x7"
This is a view of the Hyperion Bridge just east of Atwater Village in Los Angeles. While painting that morning, it occurred to me I should be at home resting. Not quite fully recovered from an upper respiratory infection, my temperature rose to 101.3 F ( I had my trusty digital thermometer handy- and no, not the rectal kind) ;-)
Call me insane, but I was completely content to be plein air painting, fever chills and all.

Hi Jennifer,
Like this one a lot. Love your self portrait with your lucky hat. Your colours are always so rich!
Must be a hoot to go painting with Bill.

Beautiful luscious color and brushwork Jennifer. Having a fever didn't hurt you at all in this one. There is nothing like pain....ting to take away the pain:)
Bill did a great one too.

Cheers.... Andrew

Jennifer, I study your paintings with pleasure and as I have never painted these kind of scenes, I find them intriguing.

Call me late to the plate.. but I'm here now... Thanks Jennifer for making me appear to be hard at work. This is another "A list" work and just goes to show you what determination can do in spite of feeling like poo(p). Thanks for the example and making me want to do better work!

Another great one Jennifer. Terrific color use--wonderful warms and cools.
Feel better.

It takes me twenty brush strokes to suggest the same amount of detail and information you get in two or three, or one.
W.K. makes a good focal point. You captured the vibrant air.
Nice one Jennifer!

Jennifer.. pretty nice painting for not being 100%! I Like the comp in this one.. my eye goes right to your friend under the umbrella and then wanders left. Juicy colours too

Thank you Louis for the generous compliments and well wishes.
And yes...painting with Bill is a hoot, but only after his first cuppa joe. ;-)

We're having a blustery cold night here. It was nice to feel the warmth coming off your painting.

Speaking of temperature, sorry about the fever. Speaking further of such things, that's a beautiful play of warms and cools in your self-portrait.

Thanks Robin,

I must say, having a fever at the time did push me to expedite the painting process and forced me to simplify. Part of me was rushing so I could get a nap in and the other was paranoid of passing out and falling into the LA River before I finished my painting.

Jennifer McChristian said...

Thanks Micheal,

I was pleased to have pulled this one off (without falling into the river)

Tom,

May the sun gods imbued you with warmth and radiance soon!
I'm glad the painting offered a little glimpse of balmier days to come in the Northeast.
Thanks for the compliments and well wishes.
