'Green Trailer'.........oil on canvas panel.........7x9 inches
Embarked on another voyage to Verdant with painting companion Bill Moore last week and did this little plein air study of the Griffith Park Metro Region parking lot across from the equestrian center entrance. Bill opted for the red truck bed (see Bill's dandy painting on his previous post by clicking on his link) >>>>>>>>>>>>
What compelled me to paint this scene were the two unoccupied and slightly skewed trailers that looked somewhat out of place. The cool and overcast weather conditions accentuated the soothing and pale mint-green color of the foreground trailer.

Great composition Jennifer. Tilted trailer is wonderful and simplified trees is always nice the way you do it.
This looks just great Jennifer! You have invited me to enter this scene and stretch my legs and eyes. The trailer, palms, distant mountains, sky.. all invites one to hang out and enjoy each element, slowly, and with warmth. Have a terrific trip to Chicago.. 9x12s on Saturday..

Jennifer... I like the way the swerving road leads the eye in to those wonky trailers. (having used to work in construction.. I believe they really were that crooked!!). Very nice comp as usual..and that little lead in curb on the right is a nice touch.
Just noticed your cloud work. I'm not going to believe you any more when you say you are cloud challenged... I'll just refer you to this painting. Cheers to you in Chicago... it's that kind of town..

It makes sense that someone who enjoys plein air(and is terrifically adept at it) would have previously worked in construction. You get to be outdoors and use your hands to create things.

Great space and composition. Road paintings are fun aren't they? Speaking of your paintings, I wished I had spent more time on the beach in Florida taking pictures of lifeguard stations. I was SO out of my element.
Jennifer, I am not shure if this is the right place to add a slight critique. I find the composition very good and your sense of color and brushwork is outstanding. Something I am not so crazy about is that the orange underpainting color appears to much and especially in the depth where the mountain hits the trees. I hope you don´t mind me beeing so frank. I knew, when I came to this painting that I'd been here before.
Also, while appreciating all viewpoints it was the orange under painting that grabbed me. Perhaps it's because I often use it myself.
I also, LOVE the subtlety of the palms trees, and the understated but vibrant colors.
