'Red Bucket'..........oil on canvas panel...........7x9 inches
Revisited the Verdant Stables with an enthusiastic and talented painting posse a few weeks ago. While meandering my way throughout the grounds, I came across this little cranny between two horse stables. What caught my eye was the brilliant red bucket gleaming radiantly against the rich cast shadow on the cinderblock wall. The discarded green chair immersed in shade balanced befittingly with the warm, red color of the bucket. Overall, the arrangement of the randomly placed objects in this scene created a dynamic and amusing 'rural' still life.
Joining me on this plein air excursion were Joseph Stoddard and Jose De Juan, two wonderful artists who both produced deliciously delightful paintings of Verdant terrain.

You have that right Jennifer.. a talented posse. I find it helpful to have the bar raised as an incentive to do better work. Hope to join in this weekend. Glad you had the opportunity to hang out in one of my favorite all time cities - Chicago. Can't wait to hear the tales.. BTW red bucket painting is powerful. It takes me to a personal, reflective, relaxed place. You brought the mellow one more time!

Thanks for the bigger enlargement. nice to see the detail of paint application.The eye moves smoothly along the rail of the wall to the background shapes and down to the focal point, then leaves you with anticipation as to the next scene in the play. Nicely composed, thoughtful painting. Its a winner Jennifer!
You three did a very good job. I like yours especially. The subject seems so unspectacular and yet you show us where to look at and that there is beauty and a subject matter everywhere. We only have to see and paint it. Great colors!

Jennifer.. gorgeous piece>! You definitely caught the backlit effect of light gleaming through the back of the bucket. I like the design too, the curved arm of the chair in shadow is nice echo to the looped hose in FG. Spectacular light.

again...i would just walk past this little scene...and you turned it into art Jennifer,excellent drawing and although the paint is loose it has got a solid feel

......I enjoy painting with buddies partly because it's more fun and inspiring, especially if they are enthusiastic and positive (and of course it's safer).....
Nice job! You can really see/feel the translucency of that red bucket.
