Santa Monica Blvd.

The intense, burst of vermillion from the backlit flowers to the right caught my eye. I also liked the idea of using a dominant and repetitive color (red) to suggest the relationship between organic and man-made objects.

I think underpaintings can make or break a painting. Actually, that is my favorite beginning step in the painting process.

I agree with you, L.A. does have a sense of discordancy, which makes it such an intriguing subject matter.
